Jim Corbett's ancient forest reserve — open October to June with a core zone permit
Sitabani Zone lies within the buffer area on the eastern edge of Jim Corbett Tiger Reserve and holds a special status among Corbett's safari options. Unlike all other zones within the national park boundary, Sitabani does require the standard core zone permit, making it considerably more accessible and affordable for wildlife visitors of all kinds.
The forest here is ancient and dense, dominated by large sal trees, teak and mixed deciduous woodland that has remained largely undisturbed for decades. This creates excellent habitat for leopards, which are frequently spotted in Sitabani more reliably than in many other zones. The area also carries an outstanding bird list, making it a favourite destination for serious ornithologists.
Sitabani's accessibility — open from October to June, no strict slot system, and with a relaxed permit process — makes it ideal for families, photography enthusiasts, and anyone who prefers a slower-paced, unhurried safari experience. Tiger sightings are recorded here too, and the ancient forest atmosphere is unlike any other zone in Corbett.
